Mr and Miss Durbie 2010
One of the great social highlights of every year is the Mr and Miss Durbie competition. Only Grade 12 learners are allowed to enter the competition. This gala event is one of the most prestigious events of its kind in the country.
Gerhard Steenkamp and Lisa Kritzinger were crowned as Mr and Miss Durbie 2010 respectively. The theme of this year's competition was Bon Voyage and it was held in the auditorium. The couple was chosen from fifteen finalists in each group by a group of independent judges. Dané Ludik was chosen as first princess and Alicia Venter as second princess. Dauwe Vannoppen was chosen as first prince and Wynand Breytenbach as second prince.
The finalists showcased outfits displaying their creativity and made from various national flags. Guests were also entertained by several entertainers – mostly learners from Durbanville High School – including singers, guitar players, dancers and drummers.
Each one of the fifteen boys and girls also appeared in formal evening wear before the ten finalists were chosen.
Each one of the finalists had to answer a question posed by one of the judges. The judges were impressed by the well-considered answers by the finalists. This proves that our finalists are not only beautiful but also intelligent!
