THE FOUNDATION OF AN EX-PUPILS COMMITTEE

During the recent mass reunion of Durbies on the eve of the annual interschools against Stellenberg High School, about 250 ex-Durbies got together at Bloemendal Restaurant. Under the leadership of Eduard Loubser , currently the chairperson of the Ex-Pupils Committee (EPC), and Melissa Bower, alumni manager, a renewed attempt has been made to get the EPC up and running. The information below is of relevance:

VISION

The vision of the EPC is to support the school by playing a leading role in the extension of Durbanville High School as an educational institution of excellence.

MISSION

•  The development of good relationships;
•  The creation of a platform for learners to develop their skills;
•  The preparation of learners to play a meaningful role in their community; and
•  The encouragement of learners to learn values that will contribute to peaceful co-existence in our country.

FULFIL MISSION BY MEANS OF:

•  The foundation of a strong, dynamic ex-pupils committee;
•  Reaching out to all ex pupils and supporters of the school;
•  Communication and participation; and
•  Meeting our responsibilities towards donors, sponsors and supporters.

STRATEGIC GOALS :

•  Fundraising: school projects
•  Fundraising: community projects
•  The motivation for this is as follows:
a) Recruitment and retention of talented learners and staff
b) Projects of a capital nature
•  Advertising of and support with cultural activities
•  Donations by ex pupils and other members
•  Ex-pupil contributions in their professional capacity
•  Bursaries for students in need
•  The encouragement of membership
•  To act as a link between the governing body and the EPC.
